A look through the lens of photographer Caroline

Can you introduce yourself and your company?

I am Caroline van Veldhuizen, 26 years old, married and living in the middle of the beautiful Veluwe. Interior design is my passion, together with my husband we built and decorated our own house. Making connections gives me energy; I am a people person and a bit of a perfectionist, especially in my work as a photographer. My company is called Studio Zedd; a creative studio that brings brands to life with lifestyle photography. From stylish interiors to outdoor projects, fashion and branding, we capture it with flair. Assignments come from interior designers and stylists and companies such as Duifhuizen, Enrico Benetti and Bij Keesje.

How long have you been a photographer and what makes it so fun for you?

I have been photographing for over 7 years now, and what makes it so much fun for me is the constant challenge and dynamics. Every assignment brings new adventures and opportunities. The creative process, capturing special moments and seeing the impact of my work on others continuously give me energy and satisfaction. No day is the same, and that keeps the passion alive and stimulates my growth as a photographer. The interplay of creativity, technology and human connection makes photography truly fascinating to me.

What training do you need as a photographer?

At the Photography School you will receive thorough training as a photographer, including technical skills, composition and creativity. My own path took a different turn, because at the time I did not expect that I would become both an entrepreneur and a photographer. I started with the HBO communication course at the CHE, which served as a solid foundation. Photography is not just about capturing images, but also about understanding the commercial aspect. A comparable educational route, supplemented with courses at the photography school, is valuable in my opinion. Although the basics of photography can be learned by anyone, creativity is essential. You can certainly develop this, but it must be intrinsically present.

What type of photography do you enjoy doing most?

My focus now is on interiors and corporate branding shoots, but I actually enjoy all kinds of photography. Every year I try something new to keep developing myself. For example, this past year I photographed two weddings, and I loved it. As a lifestyle photographer, I think it is important to maintain variety!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I really find inspiration everywhere. In nature, daily moments, art, travel and personal experiences. The work of other photographers, videographers and creatives also contributes. Sometimes I work with other photographers and schedule moments to spar with them. It's a mix that fuels my creative spark and keeps my love for photography alive.

What is the biggest challenge in your profession as a photographer?

Finding the right balance between technique, creativity and building a connection with the model, especially when time is limited. Leadership and clear communication are essential, with clear instructions and constructive feedback. Building connections requires observation and reassurance, especially with less experienced models. During interior shoots I take more time for valuable results, with attention to detail. Efficient time management and precise planning are crucial. As far as I'm concerned, this makes the work dynamic, never boring, and constantly offers the opportunity to continue to improve myself.

You also shoot with us every week. What do you like so much about this?

You are an energetic team with a positive mindset, working hard for satisfied customers. And what I especially appreciate is that this always goes hand in hand with fun and humor. It creates a great workplace, and I enjoy being part of that every week.

What was your favorite shoot at Bij Keesje?

That's a difficult one, because there have been so many fun shoots. But if I had to choose one, the shoot in Malaga really stands out. It was great to fly with the team to sunny Spain for a campaign in the winter.”
